Wow-That is one gorgeous coin. Better pics would show it off I think. From what I can see you have a high end coin. Charlton has it listed in the four figure bracket. Great buy. Where did you get it?

Hi, thx for the reply. I collect mostly Newfoundland coins but am definitly a beginner. Only been collecting for about 6 months. Have about 300 Newfoundland coins so far. This one was found at a flee market, for 14 dollars. It does look a lot better then any of my other newfoundland cents. I will try to get some better pics up in the next little while.

Cerebus, That coin looks a little familiar. Just a photo tip or two: Try putting your coin on a light blue background, with two lights positioned at 10 and 2 oclock, those should light the coin up substantially, then zoom in and keep trying to focus. Stop zooming when you don't hear that beautiful little "focus" chime. That should catch the luster, and light the coin up enough to show the details.

Is it red, brown or red-brown? Is there any wear at all on it? Too hard to tell from the pics. In MS-60 brown, Charlton and Trends have it at $125, but yours has no 'C' mint mark so it was minted in London at The Royal Mint. There's no listing for those, so I'm not sure what it could be worth or how many were minted.

That looks to be in excellent shape. Congrats, looking forward to some newer pictures.
Sounds like you got a bargain.

malibu your right there is no C mark. In my book it says Ottawa mint have C and Royal Mint strikings have no marks. I didn't even notice the difference. They show no difference in the price list, just 1917c. I think the color is red and I can't see any wear. Could it be a fake with no C? That would be pretty funny, lol. New pics as soon as I get back to home cpu, out of town working, thx again for the tips.
