coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/28/2022 11:57 am Possibly the 6:00 obverse and 12:00 reverse may be thinner on those areas of the planchet? It would be slight though. Look at the rim are these opposite sides of the coin: Areas will be weakened on the affected areas of the design. (Polished dies are not the result of this. weight going in and out will be the same pre/post strike) CoopHome: What makes a coin weigh less than normal? reduced thickness of the planchet. not seen often, I wonder if they flatten the edge of the beginning of the rolls, making these planchets thinner on just that area of the blanks?
