I got this one from ebay recently. At first, my attention was caught by the missing letters on the reverse and the strange beads/rim at 9 O'clock on the obverse. The rims are hight too.

I think by the die break under the nose it is a NS-3D1. Did the letters may be the result of grease or something else? For the obverse, there is no high spot or distorded metal in that area. Could it be a offset or something wrong with the planchet?

Thanks

I agree that it is NS-3D1: a contemporary counterfeit. The lack of legend detail is typical for this issue. Nice pick up. I would grade it VF for the issue, $50 CAD in 11th edition of Charlton.
