Just checking if there is any thing with this 2.73 g coin. Should be 2.5g and the jack pot is 3.1g. Checked all my 1983s with the scale and this coin is in the middle.

Looks zinc. Probably beat up enough it wouldn't hurt it to do a quick drop or ping test alongside a known copper and zinc.

Compared it to the 1982s and it matches the 2.5g zinc. You can here it loud and clear. The copper has a different sound.

A little outside the tolerance for zinc but the drop/ping test doesn't lie. I'm with @Dearborn: rolled a little thick.

Either rolled-thick zinc cent stock or an abnormally thick layer of copper plating.
Error coin writer and researcher.

Sometimes the Zinc alloy has Lead and this will cause be heavier. Not necessary thick planchet (which it is not out of the context). Make a Rim dimension if you have a micro-meter.
