2014 P 1c Multiple Clash Candidate - Coin Community Forum

Rainman1 Valued Member United States 54 Posts	Posted 07/19/2023 4:47 pm A month ago I was freeing up some space by going through storage boxes that have not been touched in about 10 years. As I was going through a wedding box I noticed a tin still containing the items she had on her during the wedding (an old tradition - something new, something blue, and something borrowed). The "something new" caught my eye. Her new item was a 2014 penny. I grabbed my loop and thought I could barely make out very minor notching so I put it in a sleeve for a proper inspection later on. When I looked at it yesterday I instantly forgot about possible notching because I saw a raised J. Die chip top left edge of shield. Vertical die gouge right of shield between carbon spot and banner. West of eye is J from JFM and is raised. North of ear lobe shows E from E PLURIBUS and is incused. I think I can claim I am confident that there are 5 clashed letters. Seems to be at least a few more but not as distinct as the others. Unfortunately, my digital microscope recently stopped zooming so getting magnified image + light angle to show details = Thats why I am not showing all 5 yet. The placement of the letters would suggest a multiple floating clash? Report this Post to the Staff

The areas you are pointing out don't line up with the letters. It would have to be a very hard clash to indent the dies in these areas. Report this Post to the Staff

Someone, can't remember the name, mentioned in another post that he/she blacked out all but 1 or 2 of the scope LEDs so I will try that in hopes of better pictures.
