From what I could find...1870 standard silver quarter dollar, Judd-888, Pollock-987, R.5. Need some help identifying this one folks. I'm a bit lost. I looked at PCGS and there is about 40+ different varieties of this one. Any help is appreciated.   |

Judd-890, same design but struck in copper. Nice coin!

Imagine inheriting these coins, awesome! Hopefully you just don't sell these but rather join the hobby.  You realize when you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.

I can't think of a bigger bang for a new member than the three of these threads. Thanks for joining, PaulyD. I enjoy an opportunity to research something and learn, and you've provided that. Imagine inheriting coins like these that nobody else has ever known about. According to uspatterns, about a dozen of this Judd-890 coin are known. For the 50c Judd-941, 3 or 4 known. For the $1 Judd-1020, 6 or 7 known. What fun.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. As a newby to the hobby, this forum is AWESOME.
I'll keep posting some things I think are pretty cool I'm sure I'm missing some. My grandfather, PopPop as I called him, was a coin fanatic. I hope I can do him proud.
