howell1018 Pillar of the Community United States 743 Posts	Posted 08/25/2025 6:19 pm I'm a novice Lincoln Cent collector. Is it unwise to pay large premiums for red, or even red brown examples of this series as invariably won't they all be brown someday? I have a red-brown PCGS slabbed cent in a safe deposit box in a relatively dry climate and I don't think that guarantees preservation of the red-brown indication over time. Correct. rmpsrpms Pillar of the Community United States 4041 Posts	Posted 08/27/2025 2:17 pm Just be careful with dessicants. I put several in a safe one time, and forgot to check them. After about a year I saw a line of something dripping out of the front of the safe. The dessicants had absorbed to their max, and were dripping goo. The safe was pretty airtight, but of course it was opened fairly often, allowing moisture in. Nasty cleanup. I suspect if the container holding the dessicant is not fully airtight, moisture will diffuse in over time and the dessicants will do their job of absorbing them, but will eventually fill up and leak.
