PCGS Europe - This PCGS SP65 1810 gold medal from France commemorates the marriage between Marie Louise and Napoleon Bonaparte. Looks like Cupid has his hands full with a love bug.

Julius-2268, AU, 3.19 grams.

That's really cool, and a gorgeous medal too!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Stunning! Napoleon regarded himself as a new Roman Emperor and favoured Roman-style architecture, and the style of the medal shows his love for all things Roman.

A lighting bolt as a metaphor for love is nice. Even if Napoleon marrying Marie Louise was a marriage of interest.

I like it but would not be sure this version is from 1810. Napoleon could take offense at the bust. He had a few approved artists doing those. This one is different. More importantly the inverted N are a medieval style that matches the romantic period more than the neo-classical era of 1810. May be one from Napoleon III time?
