Wondering what the coin shows and local shops are like in the Montreal Area? Looking to build long term relationships to buy, sell and consign older historical coins 1550-1850, in person with knowledgeable honest professionals.

I guess there are no coin people in Quebec. Was hoping there would be collectors and dealers of old French coins.

There is the Nuphilex show March 14 & 15. It is a stamp and coin show. It draws a lot of dealers and attendees.
In terms of dealers, there are not many unfortunately.

Peter M. McDonald is a dealer based out of Montreal (well, Kirkland, a few minutes outside of Montreal, still on the island). He deals in exactly the stuff you have. He also travels to Europe to buy and sell at shows.

I've been to Nuphilex. There's definitely material of all sorts there, they are a fan of the more historic stuff. Plenty of pre-Colonial, French, and hammered coins on the tables. It's worth checking the dealers list and figuring out what each of them specialise in.

During the second week of June I am in Quebec City and Montreal myself. Any interesting coin stores I should visit?
