I came across a roll of 1985 nickels and most are really nice. Some have corrosion damage along the edge's. This one has a tiny bit and I'm curious how badly it would affect the grade.

Take a look

Are my pics too close? They don't show the luster of this nickel. It shines like it's new.

I'm looking at MS60. Would be a solid album hole filler until better comes along.

i cant see how a coin with surfaces like this was never circulated. it looks like it went through a rock tumbler. to answer your question. number and size of marks on the rim can affect both grade and value. the reverse rim hits are pretty deep. the bigger concern are all the scratches on both sides.

if it is uncirculated, MS60. if it was circulated then I dont think it would make AU58 with all those marks so I would net it to AU53

Yes, this is a really baggy coin if MS state. The beat up reverse rims definitely pull down the eye appeal and the grade.
