I'm going through coin listings on ebay and I see something I like. Then I see something I don't like. Verbiage to the effect of "I will send you the best coin in stock," or maybe you see something like "1 of X available for sale." Then to add insult to injury you note they also state, "Returns Not Accepted." What's up with that? Has anybody ever ordered from a seller with these terms? If so, what has your experience been? I really like where they state "See ebay terms of sale" next to where they've indicated "no returns." Does this mean while I don't accept returns, ebay says I have to? Huh? I've seen these statements on relatively big ticket items, not just coins either.

If you order a "seller picks the coin" from a seller with no returns, that is just a bad decision. You might get lucky, but odds are strong you will meet some level of disappointment.

Quote: "Returns Not Accepted." Don't buy from a dealer that has many coins of the same avaliable and posts a stock picture. You never know what you are going to get condition wise. And the "Returns not Accepted" is automatically placed in auctions when the Seller doesn't specify his/her return policy. ALL ebay auctions have refund options if you are not satisfied with the transaction.

yep, I avoid any listing that has stock image. I want to see the actual coin I purchase. (unless they are reselling soon to be released coins from the mint and they use the mint images.)

Dearborn, is there any reason to buy a pre-release from the Mint on ebay, rather than buying directly from the Mint? I've never done it, and can't understand the reasoning of the buyer. Well, I guess if you're buying single coins from an upcoming Roll set or bags, it might make sense. I'd still rather buy from someone who has them in hand.

That doesn't really explain why you'd buy a pre-release, rather than waiting until the items were in the seller's possession.
I can see an incentive from the seller's perspective...collect money enough to purchase from the Mint when it becomes available.

I recently bought a couple 2025 Peace dollar ms70s from a large retailer. There were no pictures of the exact coin. Thankfully they came and look good. I was ok with the risk on a modern coin but would not take the risk with older coins that may have toning, etc.

Quote:Dearborn, is there any reason to buy a pre-release from the Mint on ebay, rather than buying directly from the Mint? Not usually, However, for my Dansco albums for quarters and the P/D Innovation coins, I buy or 'pre-buy' for the quarters and innovation dollars because I only need one for the album - and I don't need the entire roll to get that single coin from each issue. I do buy the quarter P/D rolls to put up on my shelf with the other rolled quarters still in the OGP boxes. like these (and I have been buying the boxed rolls for a very long time now and just don't want to open them for 1 quarter from each. So I have a seller I have been buying from for years now and get one of their 'subscription for the coins I want.

That's a nice stash of rolls, Dearborn. What will you eventually do with them?
BTW, are those vinyl albums on the bottom shelf?

Thanks Gary! I do have lots more of the boxed quarters than that - I was reorganizing them when that image was taken.
and Yes, that would be my vinyl record collection - I have quite a few of them most of them are first or possibly second pressings.

Are all of the boxes still sealed? Will you eventually go through them?
I have two vinyl collections. The newer one has a few hundred colored vinyl albums. I've thought about starting a topic in General Discussions but I don't know if anyone would be interested.
