ANA - Introduction to Counterfeit and Alteration Detection is designed to help learners detect the often subtle differences between genuine, counterfeit, and altered coins. Instructors Brian Silliman and Jim Robinson examine topics such as coin production, types of counterfeit dies and castings, date and mint mark alteration, and more.
Instructors Brian Silliman began as an intern at the American Numismatic Association. He worked 11 years at NGC and 5 years at Panda America. He's also a consultant for federal law enforcement. Jim Robinson has worked at APMEX for 19 years and counting. His knowledge focus is on bullion and numismatics, and he is a 9th-year co-instructor for the Summer Seminar Counterfeit Course
