I previously posted about the Expo 67 Exchange Token (1967 Expo 67 Exchange Token) and stated that I would make a separate post of the Expo 67 "Official Medallion" - Here it is!

As the booklet that accompanied the Medallion provides great background information on the Expo and the Medaltion, I'll mostly let it do the "talking."

But first, a few basic statistics about Expo 67:

1. The formal name of Expo 67 was the "Universal and International Exhibition".

2. It was held in in Montreal, Canada from April 28 to October 29, 1967.

3. The grounds for Expo 67 covered approximately 900 total acres.

4. Over 60 countries participated in Expo 67.

5. More than 90 pavilions were constructed (many by participating countries, others by private companies/organizations) for Expo 67,

6. An estimated 50 to 55 million paid visitors attended.

7. Expo '67 was organized and received its primary national funding from the Canadian Corporation ("Corporation"), a Crown Company of the Canadian Government. The Corporation was established in December 1962 via the Canadian Parliament.

The brochure was a very interesting read. I certainly know a lot more now about the two man-made islands in the middle of the St Lawrence River opposite Montreal Harbour.

I find it intersecting that there were available 3 standard alloys across 3 sizes for a total of 7 possible selections.

But wait! The order form says "Platinum and 24K Gold Available in all sizes, Prices upon request."

So that makes a total of 13 possible size/alloy combinations available.

I bet this would have been quite impressive to hold in a 75mm 24K gold example.

Upon review, I realized that I forgot to include close-up images of the medal:

Excellent!

I look through my Harris album a couple times a year. I still find some joy there.

Thanks for sharing.

There were also some large versions made in gold plated bronze. These were for VIPs, such as the Mayor of Montreal.
