Dipped and cleaned silver coins continue to vex me. To this point, all the videos I have found basically show extreme examples. That's honestly pretty useless from a grading submission standpoint—there is only one Details grade. Can anyone recommend a video on the finer points of identifying (and avoiding) cleaned and dipped silver coins?

A while back I got on Youtube, used search line, typed "identifying cleaned dipped coins." There's some videos about it, whether helpful or not depends on the video I suppose. Unless very obvious like harshly cleaned, identifying cleaned dipped coins is a matter of opinion just like grading coins is an opinion, especially with close calls one way or the other.

Dipping removes the cartwheel luster, check for the spokes.

If there is no luster, on say, an AU-50 silver coin,
is a dipped coin still easy to detect ?
