*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I would like to add both the 1979-S Proof Sets (Type 1 and Type 2) and the 1981-S Proof Sets (Type 1 and Type 2) to my collection.

I recently purchased three proof sets that were advertised as either Type 1 or Type 2. However, after receiving them and comparing the mint marks to online photos of the Type 1 and Type 2 "S" mint marks, I became uncertain about their attribution.

I have posted the best photos I could take of the coins in each of the three sets. In each collage, the coins are arranged from left to right as follows:

Top row: Cent, Nickel, Dime
Bottom row: Quarter, Half Dollar, Dollar

Could you please help identify whether the coins in each set have the Type 1 or Type 2 "S" mint mark?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

it is difficult to determine which type you have here. the images just are not good enough to see the details. (need better focus on the MM and not the case)

I am re-posting this question because I have uploaded sharper photos of the mint marks......

Could you please help identify whether the coins in each set have the Type 1 "S" (clogged) or Type 2 "S" (clear) mint mark?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Much nicer images (nice and clear, but a bit too fay away.
maybe someone with better eyes can tell the differences.

However, I'm going to merge this topic with your firs one of these coins. Maybe with both sets of images we can figure it out for you.

Is it possible that some of the sets were mixed, that is, both mint mark types in one set? Perhaps during the transition?
