I've noticed several 2022 black toonies advertised on ebay for hundreds of dollars because of alleged rim or edge-lettering errors.

From what I've read, some rim marks are normal results of the minting process. I'm curious whether any of these are genuine, recognized errors.

Has anyone come across one of these coins, and are they really worth the high asking prices?

I'm still learning and would appreciate your opinions. Thank you!

You would have to post a pic so we can see what you are talking about, but the indent on the edge is normal.

Not sure of any error on the edge lettering. It is applied
before the coins are struck and can cause slight "bumps"
from metal displacement on the rim . This is quite common
and not considered an error and does not command a premium.
Don't always go by what you read on ebay, there are many
sellers out their that prey on the less knowledgeable collectors.

Check ebay sold listings for the answer to your question, none of these high priced so-called "errors" have sold.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...
