hi it was my 18th birthday yesterday and my dad bought me a metal detector after a week of persuasion

ok ive just been in my back garden and I heard a beep and I started digging even though I wernt suposed to lol! I almost gave up because I couldnt see anything! but I put my hand down the hole and I felt a sharp bit catching my thumb I was a tiny be off where I had dug!, anyway I found this peiece of metal about the width of my hand with a bent sticking out bit in the middle and 2 screws either side looks like it was off some sort of equipment, but I guess its not bad for first find :D

your lucky to find that. the most I ever found was a quarter in one of our fields. I could get better stuff picking cans up of the ground where I live!

I have dug for 10-15 minutes before to find a cent more than a couple of times. My detector is not real accurate so I don't know what I will find once I start digging, but I guess it is the surprise that helps keep it fun.

I had to practise for several hours pinpointing with my ACE250 I can now get within an inch on shallow targets and within 3 inches on the deeper ones.
Its very satisfying to stick your probe into the ground and hit the target with it. It also makes for smaller holes. Just keep practising and you will get good at pinpointing. It just tkes time

my girlfriend said she wanted a metal detector for the last few years..well I finally broke down and shelled out the cash (i think it was 150.00)it wasnt a real good one (600.00) but it wasnt a total cheapy either (40.00)anyway we went to beach and when she wasnt looking I tossed a few quarters out in her search path.5 minutes later her arm was tired... she has never used it since....brat! I took over the search and couldnt even find the quaters I planted...doh! but I did find them using the scoop basket strainer.seems more efficient than the detector..
