Encountered this while searching a bank roll. Initially, I was suprised to see a wheat. I was more suprised to see this mintmark, which I believe was intended to be an "S"...

What caused this? Post mint?

The lower SE is damage from another object. The S has the posts to from the mint mark broken off. Thus the blob you see.
