Hang onto that one, they're slowly being removed from circulation, replaced with the new, more difficult to counterfit, twenties.

So,if the bank gave me a few days ago the really old $ 20 note ( the coloured one),i should've held it ?
I gave it to Tim Hortons and the poor girl wasn't sure what to do with it...she thought is not legal anymore
I'm not really into paper money, too much of a lie...at least coins are made of something

Well I plan on spending it when I get back to Canada. Is it still legal tender?

Hehe toast....if only the appearance of the Queen would be the issue. What I really meant is that paper money do not attract me because they are just worthless pieces of paper, and even though some of them are colourfull, still that doesn't do the trick for me.But I digress, let's stay on topic

Try spending a 1 or 2 dollar bill and see how far you get. Most clerks and cashiers have never seen them in circulation. As far as being legal - even 25¢ notes last made in 1923 are still legal tender.

At the rate the CDN dollar is going, if you hang onto that twenty for a little while longer, you're probably better off changing it into US dollars. I agree somewhat with Abyss, I'm not a fan of collecting paper money. I've made attempts to secure pre-confederation notes with little success. And as most Canadians, I've got a $1 and $2 bill tucked away, but this is the extent of my paper money collecting. Coins are much more interesting
