Here's an 1852 Large Cent U.S. for you all to comment on and to test your skills. There's a little something known about this coin that I'll share after I see what everyone comes up with.

The little white specs are from my scanner and not on the coin. I'll have to practive at scanning them larger for more detail but, this will have to do for now.

I'm thinking 40-45, although the color worries me a bit. It might be the pic.

The improper centering seems to indicate that it's rotated into medal configuration, too.

I am going to say EF-40 as well. Broadstrike? The color looks a little odd, was it buried?

Dewayne76!!!!!!! VERY good!!!! That's what I was looking for and hoping that someone could possibly confirm. YES!!!!!!! It is a dug coin. I don't know exactly where and probably will never find out but, that is why the coin is so dark. It hasn't been cleaned but, probably the dirt carefully wiped off.

As for the broadstrike and other comments. It's hard to tell. I think it just looks worn on the bottom but, I'm not sure. The top rim is definitely more pronounced.

I'm glad that you all commented on XF as that is was it was graded when I purchased it. Yeah for the forum!

Thanks everyone!

Good job and great observations. I'm very thankful!
