Hi Kid
This type of coin jewelry has been around for many years,, as atrocious as it is !!
I see many of my favorite coins carved up to make this stuff.

Usually, it is "ok" to multiate coins that are no longer in circulation, which generally is about 1960s in most world coins, and 2000 for most Western European countries.
Personally I don't mind seeing such not_circulated and cheap coins being made into jewellery. Rather than seeing them in junk coin lot and eventually ending up in metal refineries, I would be much happier if they were used in other ways.
Typically coin jewellery has existed ever since coins were minted, so I don't see why this will die down any day soon.

These appear to be common circulated coins he probably bought for melt or less and tries to both make something "new" out of them and tries to make some money in the process.

These are coins that I only dream to own and when I see them in this condition it is monstrious. How could someone be so cruel and heartless as to cut away history from a coin just for a snazzy piece of jewelry? It disgusts me.

I was always wondering about that law. How do people with the machines that smash a penny or dime into a souvenire get away with it? My daughter just went to Alaska and brought me back a penny she smashed into a little plate that shows a Bear and says Alaska.

I suppose it varies from Country to Country. It was not long ago a very prominent dealer of ours had to withdraw from sale all the silver roos that he had colourised. "Rumour" has it that he was persuaded by the Mint.
It is an irony that collectors now look out for those privately colourised silver roos.

I sometimes enjoy a piece of coin jewelry that is in a bezel and not totally destroyed but, I agree these are ugly and sad!

I say thats like a living hell for me to see. I almost threw up by what they have done to the Buffalo nickel and the walking liberty halve. If I could I would sue them for giving me a heart attack
