This is my very first post on coin community so I hope that I placed it in the correct area.

Please review the closeup of the 'S' mint mark and let me know if this appears to be authentic with respect to its size and to where it is located on the coin'd reverse side.

I am also unsure if the top thicker part of the 'S' is just normal wear and tear or if it is indicative of some sort of unauthorized alteration.

to CCF.

Looks normal to me...the bottom half of the "S" has a larger loop than the top. At anything below an XF graded coin, the 1921-S is by far less valuable than the other to 1921 half dollars; it would be odd for someone to add an "S" (unless they attempted it while the coin was at a higher grade).

Here is a picture of another 1921-S.

I'd say it's real. It's just worn really bad.

Another thing to consider, for a lower grade 1921 walker, it would make absolutely ZERO sense to add an "s". The 1921 P is much more valuable than the 1921-s in lower grades, so based on that, I would say the chances of it being an added mint mark are next to nothing.

You'd be better off if it WAS an added "s", because then you could remove it and have your genuine 1921-P.
