I just thought that this would be a good feel good story for everyone to hear it is from another forum though

Great story as you said!

What makes it even more interesting is that I had a similar event take place. Only this was my 'original discharge' papers when I was released from the Navy in 1945. I left them in the taxi that was used to go from the base to the train station. When I discovered it was gone, no one could find it.
In 1975 I got a letter from the Post Master of a little place in Texas asking if I had lost such an item. I told him that I had and he forwarded the lost papers to me. I looked on the outside envelope and discovered that it had layed (apparently) in this little postoffice from 1945 when it was turned in, and until it was returned.
I've always said it was probably under a stack of paper marked "work to do".

That is a fascinating story Dan, It kind of makes you still feel that there are good people in the world today

Hey Scoutjim ,You a member of that group? I got a ring that I have had for a while.I called the school,and the woman laughed and said to" bring it down and I will put it in the drawer with the rest of them" There are three initials ,but she didnt have the names on file,right.
