Hello all. I just started collecting and I think this is going to be my first real find. Love to hear what you all think as far as grade, value, etc. I think this is a "large date" cent. Maybe someone could confirm?

I placed the 1960 next to a 2010 to try to display color but I'm not sure this image is of a good enough quality. The 1960 is the "orange" color that I have read about. Very pretty coin.

Sorry for the "newbie speak." I'll learn.

Thx!

to the forum!

Yes, that is a large date. The small date variety is more scarce, and therefore more valuable.

I can't see it well enough to grade it, but I'd guess it is high AU at the very least.

Welcome! Nice cent.

Have you ever read any stories related to the release of these small and large date cents? Very interesting stuff. I find one of the most exciting things about the hobby is to get a great coin like this and learn the history on it. Some coin varieties have a less-than exciting story, however these small and large date cents caused quite a stir back in 1960.

Welcome to the forum, the coin is definitely a large date, it may or may not be UNC, the pics are a little small to see the details of the coin clearly enough to say for sure one way or the other.

1960 large date, pics too small for grading but it looks to be MS.
