The seller admits the coin has been cleaned; that itself has pretty much killed the coin's value, and the bidding is already past what I believe the coin to be worth. Report this Post to the Staff

It could be explained with (as SD said) a planchet flaw or even Post Mint Damage but one would have to see the rim of the coin to even be able to start to see what may have caused it. Bizybackson Pillar of the Community United States 1817 Posts	Posted 05/28/2011 6:07 pm Probably the greater proportion of IHCs in circulated grades are going to be cleaned at some point, particularly the ones that are not dark or have been heavily corroded. The coin, minus the dig, has been lightly cleaned, not obviously harshly cleaned as it does not exhibit the unnatural brightness of a buffed coin. That dig does look like PMD, and that's what killed the value on this coin, probably only worth 30% or 40% of a problem free VF. Report this Post to the Staff
