Pocket Change

Your five cents from 1981 and under are pure nickel so, I would save those.

Okay... why not just do a lotta sortin' some rainy day.

Keep all 1996 and earlier cents (copper and worth 2 to 3 times face).
Keep all 1981 and earlier nickels (nickel and worth 2 times face).
Keep all 1968 and earlier dimes and quarters... then sort out the '68 50% silver variety from the nickel variety with a magnet( the nickel being magnetic). Of course prior years wuld be 80% silver... with the exception of '67 having both 50% & 80% silver varieties.

I personally don't keep the nickel dimes and quarters and currently their face value exceeds "melt" value considerably.

Roll up your "unwanted" change in the clear sorta snap type rolls and bring them to your bank. One other thing... if you mark each roll in marker(agood one that doesn't rub off) with your account identifier #, it seems more likely that the teller just counts the rolls and doesn't really scrutinize each individual roll.

I 'spose checking varieties and such could be fun as well... and I also 'spose you already know that. But if you got a big wack of already searched through change, why not pay yourself instead of a counting machine
