Another raw coin (and I think last one for a while) from ebay's reputable seller (over 5000 transaction and 100% positive feedback)
The weight is 26.87 grams.
The edge looks ok to me.
My worry is excessive amount of die cracks or ...
For your judgment:
Thank you

I wondered who had bought that one. I was an under-bidder.

As you may or may not know, I bid on suspect "Boston" types all the time but find they often do not fit the type well in person. About 1/2 of the Boston coins I suspect are either real OR inconclusive. This is of course why they were so successful - they passed. The easiest to spot are the ones where they made a serious error - wrong date or assayer initials.

When I bid on this one, I suspected it MIGHT be a Boston forgery based on the excessive number of die chips. I do not bid to win I bid up to about retail in hopes the coin is not of great interest to others. If it ends up being real I re-sell it.

But seeing the edge and the position of the overlaps I believe it is most likely real. Glad you won it - I do not need another original in my collection. But if you can do a Specific Gravity I would love to know the results.

Hello Swamperbob,
Sorry, I didn't know you were bidding ...
(Learned something new - another way to recognized fakes is to see you are bidding :)
The Specific Gravity test results are
between 10.315 - 10.326

Thank you

That SG is good so the coin is about 90-91% silver. The Boston forgeries were full weight silver.

It was more fun when my name appeared on a coin. Until ebay decided to hide the names I had a second ID "This-coin-is-fake" was my second bidder name. It did work - it caused more than one cancellation.

Yes, I miss that old time as well, it was also a nice way to meet other collectors :)
I wish there would be an option to choose to not have is name obfuscated ...
