Hi everybody,

here I have 3 kreuzer of Austrian archduke Leopold V. (1586-1632). I am not able to find this coin in any catalog. Very similar is KM# 583 in Krause-Mishler catalog, but here is difference in position of denomination. It is not below, but above the shield with eagle (see on picture). Therefore I suppose, that it is other (although a bit similar) coin.

Maybe this coin might have been registered in these books, but I have not them :-(

KOCH B. (1994): Corpus nummorum Austriacorum. Bd. 1., Mittelalter - verfasst und zusammengestellt. Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, 424 pp.

or

MOSER H., TURSKY H. (1977): Die Münzstätte Hall in Tirol 1477-1665. Verlag Dr. Rudolf Erhard, Rum bei Innsbruck, pp.

I would be thankful to any information!!

I believe the coin you have is an old forgery.

Forgery? Are you sure? I do not exclude it, but I would like verify it in KOCH and MOSER-TURSKY. Do you have these books?

It looks too crude even for these early Austrian coins.

However, the design is indeed KM #583 just like this one here: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/ga...=1903&pos=61

Do not put complete trust in the pictures the Krause books show, they are often wrong.

Today I found very simillar coin - see:

http://www.xn--mnzauktion-9db.net/b...&curr=EURGBP !!

Between this and my coin is only one small different - on my coin is "...TYROL..." and on the coin from web is "...TYROLIS...". But both have denomination ABOVE the shield with eagle.

It could be any rare variety (or contemporaneous forgery - it is not excluded...).

PLEASE - IF ANYBODY HAVE THE CATALOG MOSER-TURSKY, LOOK ON COIN 480-1 AND PASTE HERE SCAN WITH DESCRIPTION. IT WOULD BE MY COIN!!
