i known cleaning coins in not a good idea, but I occasionally have to clen my metal dectector finds.I was just wondering if anyone here has ever tried using a water pick-like you use for your teeth?I don't think a stream of water would do much if any damage and then use air to dry the coin so there's no wiping involved.I've been considering purchasing one for this purpose, but am just wondering if anyone else has tried this. Thanks in advance for all responses.

I use a waterpik... On my teeth. Water, with a certain amount of pressure, can scratch metal just as easily as a drill. Ever see how they create the custom wheels for motorcycles?

I agree with the warm water soak. Or if nothing else, it's a good first step.
