Picked these up for a few bucks a piece at a local show today. Never seen the goldish flag on them before. Is it rare? I have 3 and the flag is on the exact same way on all. Any input would help.

Thanks!

Sorry, I'm no expert on paper money. None of the example of this bill that I have show the gold flag though. It's not mentioned here http://www.coinsandcanada.com/bank-...67&id_cat=16 either. Maybe a post-mint modification?

so someone bought a holographic flag stamp from the dollar store and created a new series, then created errors for that new series?

what I dont get is someone spending $100 or more without doing a 3 second google search...

I have often had that same thought.....a quick google search could help a lot of people before they do something they shouldn't!!

If you bought them in Canada you should report them to the RCMP. I suspect the modification in this way is a fraudulent way to make them seem more valuable.

Ah... The 1967 "Gold Flag" notes.

This note comes up for question for often at the Banknote forum that I am on. These notes are not rare, and are not errors. Someone just started adding these flags to the note, and had been selling them as something they are not.

A friend of mine actually wrote that ebay guide.

I dont think I will report them lol...These were not done with a stamp, I'm assuming they went through a printer like the ebay review states. Even though they are a post mint modification, does anyone know when they were released back into circulation?
