Question About 1824 Bust Halves - Coin Community Forum

Firecom911 Valued Member United States 161 Posts	Posted 09/29/2007 9:27 pm I don't know much about Bust Halves except that, like many other early 19th century U.S. coins, there are a lot of overdates. I recently read a comment about 1824 halves... "Overdates to look for are 1824/1, 1824/4 and 1824 over God knows what." I laughed out loud because the image that went through my brain was a slab that was labeled 1824/God knows what Seriously, is there an 1824 overdate that is very unusual? It's definitely 1824 over jumble, some call it 1824/2/0. You could call it 1824/Monday Morning Hangover or some such. It's different, but not too terribly unusual. Report this Post to the Staff

Mike Rest in Peace United States 2884 Posts	Posted 09/29/2007 11:16 pm Very funny comment! It is true that there are many over dates in that year. As mentioned one is termed "2 over 0 " or "4 over various dates".(that is the "god knows what"one! There is "4 over 1","4 over 4" and another "4 over 4" variety based on a greater distance between the 2 and 4. Hope this helps. Mike Report this Post to the Staff

It appears from the pic that the "slipping into a vegetative state" occurred in Philadelphia some years ago. Ummm....I see a 4... ...I see a 2... ...I don't see a 0... ...I see SOMETHING in the lower right quadrant of the 4that shouldn't have anything to do with the 2. God knows what.
