Hi Silver Gorilla,
It is French Ecu 5 Francs 1870 K CERES without legend silver .900 weight 25 g
The cross on the left and star on the right are signature of the mint of Bordeaux
the "M" at 2 hours in the star is a variety (exist 4 varieties) most rarest is "M" in star at 2 hours like your but with signature on obverse A.E. OUDINE (12 known only !) (yours it's E.A.OUDINE)
Total mintage 569,662
value in French book LE FRANC VI in F-EF (I think it's grade of your coin) 40-75 euros ($58-$110)

Very nice coin, this looks like KM#818.2 Bordeaux mint, the M in the star is for Joseph marchant Dupleny 1870-1871. I'd grade it VF-$150.00

Yep, K mintmark (Bordeaux mint) coins of 1870-71 have two "privy marks" from two mint officials: the "slanted M in star" of J.M. Dupleny, and the "trefoiled cross" of H. Delbeque.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
