I was at my local coin shop and the owner had some bills that had a letter or number which was slightly higher than the others. My question is does this really raise the value of the bill much and is considered an error?
I have a couple of the ladies at the bank saving me old bills and got a number of 1973 $1 bills and some have raised numbers.

If it's slightly higher, I think there is no premium. I know for our newer bills, the offset number is very common (i'd even say most of our polymer note have this offset).

If it were a dramatic offset (half the number is higher than the rest), it could probably fetch a premium.
