Hey guys, I'm thinking of filling my gold page within the next few months and while I own a few random gold pieces and newer bullion I'm very ignorant to old gold series, mintage keys etc. So my question is, if I do common dates in bu/au where possible what would you estimate my costs to be in filling the page up? And any other info you can think of would also be appreciated. Thanks  |

This is something that I would like to do someday but it is a pretty major expense that I can't take on right now. Last time I checked you are looking at around $5k+ but I will be interested to hear what others have to say.  Edited by KenKat

Sadly, yes, you are looking at just over $4,000 in bullion value alone

 And then you have to pick a grade range so the coins look consistent together. After spending all that money, you don't want a lot of worn stuff. |

If you stick to the more common dates you can probably complete this set in Choice AU for $6k or less. Be prepared to be very patient looking at lots of coins trying to find the best-looking examples at the low end of their price ranges. Add a chunk of money to that range if you want MS coins.
Now might be a good time to get in with gold down below $1200. You might want to wait a bit and see if it bottoms out at or below $1000, but if it starts trending bull market again you need to get in now.
PMX futures is absolutely bonkers at the moment, platinum/palladium/rhodium/ruthenium all way off, gold is way down, silver down. The PMX gurus are busy waging a vicious bulls-vs-bears war trying to figure out if this is a price correction to market or something more serious like a bubble that popped. Buying brings buyers and selling brings sellers, so a lot of traders are waiting on the sellers to move their holdings out, then the buyers will pop in and pick up bargains, and the cycle begins anew.

I would go all AU grades with this gold page in consistence appearances, and that would cost around $6K for current time frame.

If I had to make a ballpark guess.
The $2.50 through $20.00 dollar coins could be bought in
grades AU to low BU for around $100 over spot.
A little more or a little less depending on the coin.
The $10.00 Indian and the Saint may cost a little more for
nice looking coins.
The $1.00 gold, for nice looking coins between $200 and $300.

Yes....I paid just over 3k for the 2 one ounce rounds needed. That is the only ones I have picked up and gold spot was higher at that time so I agree 6k would be in the ball park.

As I'm not really into gold numismaticly I just wanna fill it with Au60 common pieces
