I haven't been able to find anything related to it (I don't know what to call it?) Pictures show it best: First picture, average 2001/2002 Denver. there is a silhouette of edges on the two bays outside where Lincoln is sitting. Second picture is same thing, except for the right side looks like it has the pillar lines in it. Do these pictures show what I am describing? Report this Post to the Staff

The bottom picture and pillar 8 you are talking about the left side of that pillar? If so it looks pretty normal to me if by lines you are talking about how it sinks back in or looks incuse I believe it's from to much polishing right there Report this Post to the Staff
rainman503 Valued Member United States 231 Posts	Posted 04/15/2016 03:06 am Apparently the way I'm looking at it, the top portion of the of the incuse is thicker than the bottom, making it look doubled (like a pillar fluting) at certain angles. Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/16/2016 01:01 am In those two bays there are lines added on the design to show a 3-d affect. It is also on the two outside bays as well. This is normal. When over polishing happens it weakens these lines. Report this Post to the Staff
rainman503 Valued Member United States 231 Posts	Posted 04/16/2016 5:40 pm I tried to show it in this picture, in the middle of the normal extra column, the width of the column steps down. It is bigger on the top half than it is on the bottom half. Creating an illusion that it doubled. I don't see it on a lot of coins, which led me to believe that it might be an error or design flaw.
