Found this one in a penny jar. It appears to be silver in color in hand, tough to get the silver in the photo.
I do not know what to make of it. Any help is welcome.

I can only go by the photo. It looks like a very dirty coin not a missing plating.

Just looks like a dirty beast. If you can weigh it in 10th gram or better it would help us know for sure.

Judging by the colour in the photos as I see them, I think it is from environmental exposure. I have found a few similar to that one in the past.

For a proper comparison, it might be helpful to post a photo with it next to a new red cent.

Do not clean it, but try to just wash it with plain water and see what happens .

Good side-by-side shot. It is what I expected to see, more coppery than silvery. I stand by my earlier assessment.

Keep looking and keep asking questions though.
