So, I have been reading these forums and trying to learn more about coin grading for my new collecting hobby.

I have seen a many posts refer to a coin with "RPM", but I am not sure what this means.

I know what it means back from the days when I had Vinyl records (yes.. I'm oldish..), but not sure what it means for coins...

I don't see a reference to this in my " RedBook"..

What does this mean, could you provide some examples, and why is it important?

Thanks.

Michael

On the left side you have a bunch of headings, near the top is one that says 'Glossary' all the names are there.

Hi Einstem! Great question! RPM,DDO,DDR,OVD,IDB, all these and even more abbreviations are the error/variety coins talked @ incessantly here. Many web sites are resources, my fave is Chuck Daughtery's http://www.coppercoins.com for RPM,DDO and DDR's, great pix & descriptions for the Lincoln Cent.

The glossary here is helpful, also try the search engine for previously posted links.

Just keep askin' & learnin'!

Keep asking the questions, einstem. Even if the questions seem silly, you'll get honest answers.
