Wow! That is an impressive collection of Asian charms! Not really coins, but quite an interesting area of collecting nonetheless. I am certainly no expert on charms, but I am assuming they are Chinese. I don't see any types I have learned to immediately assume are Japanese or Korean, but who knows. In contradiction, I have learned that it is often the Korean Charms that have such a non-round shape, so I don't know. I have checked what little sources I have on Far-eastern charms, but they are rather limited, thus nothing turned up. Real old charms are mostly round, following the formula of the circulating coinage, so I am confident these are a little later. Broad dating: 1700-1900, or perhaps even more recent. Many of these charms are still made to this day, and sold off to unsuspecting tourists. These look nice and old in my opinion, but again, I am no expert. They could well be recent fakes. If you want individual translations, post separate pics for each, and I'll give it a try. How did you come by these?

Thanks so much for the wonderful information! I inherited these from my great uncle whom traveled extensively in Asia during WWII. He is a big time coin collector and these are from his private collection. I had no idea these are charms. Here are more photos.

to the family!

Check out this thread, you have one item we were discussing what it might be. That's the flat cast butterfly w/ two characters in circles...think it is still open for figuring out, yours may even help!

Pretty sure those aren't coins but tokens of some sort, temple or plain souvenier type, but I'm usually un-inserting both feet...

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome.
Crazyb, thanks so much for sharing the discussion thread regarding the butterfly. I had an opportunity to read all the conversations, and I have to say it is very educational. It help me greatly to gain better understanding of exactly what I have.
Would it be all possible that the butterfly that I own is authentic?
Thanks!

@snowbird, first welcome to CCF. Second, consider posting your charm on its own thread in the token/exonumia section of CCF to get this in front of more eyeballs.
