Is This An Error 1965 Special Set With Mint D Mark On Nickle

itsonlymoney Valued Member United States 142 Posts	Posted 05/29/2018 10:01 am I purchased set at estate sale but I noticed the spot on the nickle. I thought it was on the plastic but its on the coin. The bag is sealed. Is this an error? I thought no mint mark on years 65-67 and why is the copper color? I thought nickels were made of nickel not copper. Need help here? The damage happened after the coin was struck. It could be a chemical of some type on the coin or a defective planchet. Others will chime in here with their opinions. Report this Post to the Staff
