Looks like a normal circulated 1949-D LWC to me.

It probably is as I'm not very knowledgeable about these things. It displays a rich bronze patina almost like a root beer color.

Yes, the color doesn't look right. It could be anything...cleaned, chemicals, etc.. over the years. The coin has had a rough life but it's still a keeper if you like wheat cents.

I think it was lightly cleaned a long time ago or perhaps fell into a glass of pepsi for about 2 seconds .
