Can a strike though foreign material happen to both obverse and reverse at the same section of a coin?

Is this just a case of something, like a pair of pliers, crimped this coin? I'm leaning towards the pinching of some crimp device because of the side image being crushed.

What is CCF's opinion?

Definitely PMD.
It would be almost impossible to have a strike through on both
sides of a coin lined up like that.

It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD), not an error. Worth 10 cents.
