I have a 1958 Wheat penny in good condition with what appears to be part of letters stamped boldly on the rim / off edge above the M in "unum" I can't find another one like it online. I bought many wheat pennies from a coin shop which were unsearched and I found a few different errors on some. But I can't identify this one.
I don't see the "letters stamped boldly on the rim" Which letters? I know you tried to show a clos up, but I still cannot see which letters? What I do see appears to be perhaps damage? Cannot really tell. Can you show us more of the actual edge were you see letters?
The ares next to these areas are reduced, making it look like they are raised, by are not. They are normal height, the incuse marks make it appear raised.
The areas are reduced in a very convenient way to show this way. The whole coin rim is the same except for the marks. They are not reduced. It's a perfect penny in decent condition. Thanks for your help, I will go elsewhere because the pictures don't do justice.
