Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 03/29/2020 8:21 pm The reverse is not fully legible but I believe it reads 'Izz al-Dunya / wa al-Din. The phrase means "Glory of the World and of the Faith". It is a title that has been used by a number of rulers including the Salduqid already mentioned. One usually sees it in the references as "'Izz al-Din". I can't decide whether the coin uses a Byzantine-style obverse or was struck over an existing Byzantine coin. If it is an overstrike, the Byzantine undertype would provide a terminus post quem for this particular 'Izz al-Din. If the obverse is imitative, it's surely a known type and requires a process of elimination of rulers named 'Izz al-Din. Edited by Kushanshah 03/29/2020 8:24 pm Report this Post to the Staff
