mitchhailey Pillar of the Community United States 1150 Posts	Posted 02/14/2012 11:59 pm Looks like a die clash to me. The hammer and anvil dies came into contact with each other without a planchet in between, thereby creating obverse and reverse images on the opposing dies which in-turn imparted those images onto the following minted coins.
