I have found yet another coin that I would love to get feedback on. It is an indian nickel that either has no date or the date is worn off. Any thoughts?

Due to the design, the date is worn off of these nickels well before other design elements. In this condition, I think that it is pretty close to a cull.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my three posts. I have about another 170 coins to go through. I'll pick only the ones that look interesting. I know nothing about coins so it is going to be a long research process. Any suggested sites that would be the ultimate research site?

If you wanna have fun you can always put it in some vinegar/salt solution and bring up a date that way. It will look acid treated but it's a cull the way it is so no loss. It's kinda cool to see a date reappear.

Why would an acid solution bring out the date? Is the date made from different metal?

I believe it eats away the copper and a date will appear. Kinda cool. The date is very fragile though and will rub off easily.

Here's an old thread...

Don't waste time trying to get a date on that. Not worth your time.

OO you have a similar situation that I had a month ago. Here it is correctly said that you can put a coin in vinegar to find out the date. It will take time, but I think it's worth it. It might even be profitable. Who knows what year is hidden there
