How would you grade this? Something seems a bit off to me, but I might be mistaken. Thanks.

Agree with above, looks like some heavy north-south surface scratches from a harsh cleaning. I agree with XF as well, moderate wear in the hair above the ear

If still unsure, do a comparative ping tone test against another .9167 British India Rupee of the period 1835-1938.
Weight should be 11.66 grams for an unworn example.

Thanks. Of course, in order to do a ping test, I'd need another British East India Co. Rupee that I could trust.

For the moment, I'll chalk it down to a cleaning. The scratches don't really appear to the naked eye, but they do show up on the obverse in the photo. If someone else wants to lend or donate a proper Rupee for me to do a ping test, I'll gladly try it ! 😆
