Please take a look at this. It looks like the 4 is stamped over something else.

Consider posting large and sharp photos of the coin's obverse and reverse. This would help to better establish a full context for the coin. Might help determine what the date concern is, or isn't. Thanks.

It looks like the 4 has been hit and flattened, showing metal displacement.

Looks like a flattened die crack. If it were doubled, then the other devices would also be doubled. They are not. On the 1944 cent DDO's the 944 are affected by class 6 hub doubling:

Just a single digit is often just damage.
