1986 - P With Multiple Mint Errors.

nozzy819 New Member United States 25 Posts	Posted 09/24/2021 10:51 am As stated the coin has multiple, visible errors. Band is off centered on both sides, with a doubled die line on the obverse. The clad looks an oreo with the nickel thick on each side and a narrow copper line. The "In" is gone but not sure if its damage, or residual from the minting. It also only weighs 5.2g. The alloy looks very different than a usual quarter. Thanks in advance for any help! Report this Post to the Staff

Second, that "Oreo" feature occurs on clad coins when they are exposed to a corrosive environment such as immersion in acid. That is not a mint error. As to the "band", I think you might be talking about the rim. It is a little hard to tell with these pics, but your coin might have been struck with a slightly misaligned die. Added: acid also affects the rims, so I'm not positive about this for your coin.
