wizened Valued Member United States 59 Posts	Posted 04/09/2022 4:07 pm That is not a common Chinese chopmark. From looking around, it looks like it might be Cuban. I would suppose that a Cuban countermarked coin has some extra value. It does add some history to the coin even if not rare. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces78553.html There is one caveat here, which some disreputable fellows have marked coins now with a modern punch, but marketed like the countermark was contemporary to the coin's production, to add value (perceived rarity). I have seen a lot of British rupees with fake Arabic countermarks on them. The coin you mention looks good to me, but nothing like having a coin in hand to be sure. Report this Post to the Staff
