2023 Eleanor Roosevelt P And D Quarters Die Chip Errors?

Gemmi8 New Member United States 24 Posts	Posted 07/21/2023 2:19 pm I recently received a roll of 2023 Eleanor Roosevelt quarters direct from the US Mint and went I opened each roll it was obvious there were die chips throughout both mint marks. The edge rim of the coins seem to be raw on over 80% of the coins in both rolls. And I've discovered other die errors, mainly on her face. The P mint mark ones seem to a misalignment strike on the front. The other thing I noticed is that the D mint mark has a bright shiny finish and the P a much duller finish. These photos are from 5 out of each roll. Over all I've found that 75% of the quarters have die chips. Thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

Cujohn Pillar of the Community United States 7174 Posts	Posted 07/21/2023 4:41 pm Yes these quarters have a lot of chips on them. I jokingly say you can't find one without any. The reeds are sharp on new coins. I have found that with the 3 different mints, the further west you go the better the quality is. Philly don't care, Denver kinda does, SF puts out the better quality all around. Die chips are just something that happen to the die throughout it's life because of use. Report this Post to the Staff
